How long does it take?
Most car keys: 30–60 minutes on the spot. AKL (lost all keys): 60–120 minutes — we read your immobiliser. Building fobs: 5 minutes per fob. Garage remotes: 5–10 minutes.
Can you come to me, or do I drive in?
Both. Our shop is at Unit 2, 736 Bay Street, Toronto — drop in 8am–8pm Mon–Sat (free parking). Or we dispatch a fully-equipped mobile van across Durham, Toronto, Markham, Scarborough. Mobile fee shown on the quote — no hourly games.
Same day?
Yes — 90% of car keys are programmed same day, often while you wait. Building fobs are always same-day at the shop. Some rare OEM blanks (luxury European latest models) need 24–48 h to source.
Do I need to bring my car?
For spare keys: yes, we need the car physically (in shop or wherever you are if mobile). For AKL: yes — we read the immobiliser to make a key from scratch. For battery / repair / reprogramming an existing fob: just bring the fob.
What do I need to bring?
Photo ID (driver’s licence) + proof of vehicle ownership (registration, insurance card, or ownership). For AKL on a luxury car we may also ask for VIN photo. Cash, debit, e-transfer, tap, and insurance authorization all accepted.
Is there a warranty?
Yes — 90-day warranty on all programming and key cuts. If a key we made stops working in 90 days, we re-program or replace at no charge.
Will my insurance cover it?
Often yes — most comprehensive auto insurance covers lost-key replacement. We invoice direct to insurance + fleet accounts and can issue a written quote on letterhead within the hour. Just ask.
What if my car / fob isn’t on the list?
We still cover it 90% of the time — the list shows our most common 50+ makes and brands, but we have universal equipment. Send a photo of your fob (or car / VIN) via WhatsApp and we’ll quote in 5 minutes.
Do you charge a “diagnostic fee” or hidden fees?
No. The price you see is the price you pay — includes the key, programming, warranty, and tax. The only add-on is the mobile-zone fee shown on the quote (only if you choose mobile, not shop). No “shop fee” or surprise charges.
What payment methods?
Cash, debit, all credit cards (tap), Apple Pay / Google Pay, e-transfer (instant), insurance authorization, fleet billing. No fee for any payment method.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes — Licensed locksmiths in Ontario, $2 million liability insured, bonded, and police background-checked. We also handle insurance and fleet jobs that require certified locksmith documentation.

What Affects the Final Price
- Whether you have a working key — spare keys are cheaper than all-keys-lost.
- Year and make — newer security systems (BMW G-Chassis, JLR UWB) require specialty equipment and OEM-restricted access.
- Where the work happens — in-shop at our Downtown Toronto location is the most efficient. On-site work for select vehicles costs more.
- Key blank quality — we use OEM or OEM-equivalent fobs only. We do not install knock-off blanks; they fail.

Why We’re Cheaper Than the Dealer
The dealer charges shop labour rates ($180-220/hr) and adds OEM key-blank markup. We use the same OEM (or OEM-spec) blanks but our overhead is lower and our specialty equipment is owned outright. Typical savings vs the BMW or JLR dealer for an equivalent job: $300-700.
Price Match — On Like-for-Like Quotes
If you have a verified written quote from another NASTF-certified shop using equivalent OEM-grade equipment, we’ll match it. Bring or email the quote. We don’t match call-center bait quotes that exclude the actual programming charge.

Will you tell me the price before I come in?
Yes. Call with year, make, model, and what you have or don’t have. We give a firm price by phone before you drive out — and that’s the price you pay.
Do you charge a service call fee?
No service call fee for in-shop visits at our Downtown Toronto location. On-site service for select high-end vehicles has a transparent dispatch fee that’s quoted upfront on the phone.
Are these prices final?
The ranges shown cover most year/make/model combinations. The exact price depends on your specific vehicle and what you have or don’t have — that’s why we quote firm by phone before any work begins.
Do you accept Helcim payments?
Yes — we run on Helcim, the same Canadian processor most reputable Ontario businesses use. Tap, chip, and Apple Pay accepted. Online deposit payments via Helcim Payment Pages are available for specialty work.
Do you do refunds if a key fails?
All work carries a 1-year workmanship warranty. If a key we cut and programmed fails for any reason inside that window, we re-cut and re-program at no charge.
