INSTALL GRADE: typically D to F depending on configuration

Trackimo devices are designed with installer-friendly mounting (magnetic options, hardwire options). Installs we encounter range from “concealed but detectable” (Grade D) to “thrown in the trunk and forgotten” (Grade F).

Markup exposure

Metric Value
Trackimo TRKM110-T retail price $79.99 USD direct
Required subscription $5–$25 USD/month tier-dependent
Typical installer fee charged $300–$1,000 CAD per install

DETECTION METHOD

Method Time

Visual inspection 30–90 seconds (depends on concealment)
OBD-II port check (variant) 5 seconds — TRKM110-T not OBD but other Trackimo variants are
Magnetic detection (variant) Instant for magnetic-mount variants

INSTALL AUDIT — typical failures we encounter

❌ Magnetic variants placed visibly

Most magnetic Trackimo installs end up on the same predictable surfaces — gas tank skid plates, rear frame rails, inside spare-tire wells. Installers don’t bother with internal cavity placement.

❌ Hardwired variants spliced amateurishly

Trackimo offers hardwire kits that include proper splice connectors. Installers routinely substitute cheap Scotchlok tap connectors that fail in 6–18 months under vehicle vibration.

❌ Cellular subscription billed to traceable accounts

Same as LandAirSea: the Trackimo subscription is tied to a credit-card-billed monthly account. When recovered, the IMEI traces directly back to the buyer through legal discovery.

❌ SAR warning ignored

The TRKM110-T has a documented 5 mm body separation requirement to stay within SAR limits. Installs placed against seat foams, headliners, or directly against the steel chassis under the passenger position may exceed SAR safety limits for occupants during long drives — particularly concerning if the device was installed without owner knowledge.

WHAT A COMPETENT INSTALL WOULD LOOK LIKE

  • Hardwire variant integrated into factory harness with proper automotive-grade splices
  • Concealment in a body cavity respecting the 5 mm SAR separation
  • Consent-documented per Ontario law
  • Subscription in vehicle owner’s name
  • Grade B or A concealment
